Additional Bradley and Stryker are expected: US prepares new $500m military aid package for Ukraine
The US government plans to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine. The total amount of aid will be $500 million and will include Bradley and Stryker combat vehicles.
This was reported by CNN with reference to an official representative of the administration. The new package will be announced tomorrow, 27 June.
"It is expected that the new aid package, which will be announced on Tuesday, will include additional Bradley and Stryker combat vehicles," the statement said.
The aid will be provided under presidential drawdown authority, which means immediate shipment of weapons from existing Pentagon resources.
The report also notes that the additional IFVs are being provided as Ukraine lost several armoured vehicles in the first days of its counter-offensive, which Ukrainian forces launched earlier this month.
The package comes as US officials continue to assess the impact of Wagner's "uprising" inside Russia on the war in Ukraine.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced a package of additional aid totalling $1.3 billion. He assured that the United States would support Kyiv for as long as it takes.
The US State Department said that the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine would take months. This time is needed to settle the mechanisms for their delivery.
