"We don't want to deal with Russians". Italian club thwarted the transfer of a player to Spartak

The managing director of Italian soccer club Sassuolo Giovanni Carnevali has revealed the real reason why Rogerio's transfer to Spartak Moscow was thwarted. The 25-year-old Brazilian was supposed to move to the Moscow club for €8 million, but Sassuolo refused to sell the defender at the last minute.
"The negotiations were led by his agent and, considering everything, we decided not to act as owners and management, but to refuse for ethical reasons: we didn't want to negotiate with the Russians," Carnevali told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Sassuolo director said that the team wanted the realization that one cannot do business with a certain country to prevail.
"Yes, at the cost of losing this footballer for free. It's not that we don't sell Rogerio anymore. We are selling him. But the choice was of a different nature," added Carnevali.
