The former head of the soccer federation of the Zinkivska community in the Poltava region and multiple champion of regional and district soccer competitions Oleksandr Zhmurko was killed in battles near Bakhmut, the Poltava region Football Association reported on Facebook. The hero was 29 years old.

The native of the Shylivka, Zinkivska district was called up on April 25. He served as an assistant machine gunner of the 1st squad of the 1st operational platoon. He fought his last battle near Klishchiivka.

Oleksandr was born in the village of Shylivka, Zinkovska district. After graduating from the 8th grade of the local school, he continued his studies at Poltava general education boarding school No. 1.

He graduated from the Poltava school No. 23 as a driver. He studied at the Poltava Cooperative Technical School during 2012-2014 and then at the Poltava University of Economics and Trade. Oleksandr Zhmurko worked as a coach at the Start stadium since 2017.
