The Ukrainian women's sabre fencing team failed to reach the final of the World Championship-2023, which is held in Italy. Our team consisting of Alina Komashchuk, Olha Kharlan, Olena Kravatska and Yulia Bakastova lost to the French team in 1/2 (32:45).

After an unsuccessful start, our girls were catching up in the first half of the match, with a gap of 2-3 points. Yulia Bakastova was able to equalize the score on the fourth shift, putting the Yellow-Blue team ahead. However, Manon Apiti-Brunet managed to organize a 4-0 spurt and France took the lead again.

Kharlan, instead of reducing the gap, lost even more (20:25). The difference in the score continued to grow and already on the 7th shift it was 9 points.

The Ukrainians were unable to turn the tide of the game in the end. The Ukraine national team at the World Cup-2023 has to play the match for third place against South Korea which will be held at 14:10 on July 30.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, the Ukrainians beat the USA's fifth number of seeding with a score of 45:44 in the quarterfinals.
