The world champion of Formula-1 determined before the end of the season
Dutch racer Max Verstappen became the world champion of Formula 1 motor racing. The leader of the Red Bull team won the most important title in the world motorsport 5 stages before the end of the season.
His teammate and main rival Sergio Perez kicked out in the sprint at the Qatar Grand Prix and lost his mathematical chances to overtake his partner.
Verstappen won his third title after successes in 2021 and 2022.
The Dutch driver is level with Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet, and Ayrton Senna. Five athletes are ahead of Max: Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton (seven titles each), Juan Manuel Fangio (five), Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel (four).
Before Max, only four drivers had won three or more championships in a row: Schumacher (2000-2004), Fangio (1954-1957), Vettel (2010-2013), and Hamilton (2017-2020).
