Strong man from Chernivtsi killed defending Ukraine from Russian invaders

The hero is buried on the Walk of Fame of the city's Central Cemetery

Oleksandr Lizin, a candidate for master of sports in powerlifting, multiple participant in the Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi region championships, and winner of the regional championships, died in the war against the Russian occupiers. The Ukrainian strongman served in the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade as a sergeant.

According to the Facebook page of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, he was awarded the medal "In Glory of Chernivtsi" (posthumously) for personal courage and heroism, and for his significant contribution to the defence of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The hero was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Central Cemetery in Chernivtsi.

 

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, on February 22 this year, a 40-year-old coach and candidate for master of sports in powerlifting, Artur Konovka, fell victim to the Russian occupiers in Mariupol.

 

Earlier, Yaroslav Khybovskyi, a master of sports in powerlifting and a Ukrainian record holder, was killed in action for his country. Having joined the military under contract, Yaroslav was the chief sergeant of the 2nd Mechanised Platoon of a mechanised company.
