Zenit St Petersburg footballer Vyacheslav Karavayev faced problems during his holiday in Turkey because of his Russian passport. The 28-year-old Muscovite, who has already played 24 matches for the Russian national team, was unable to fly from Istanbul to Prague.

According to Karavaev, he had to urgently change his plans and take a ticket to Vienna.

"We waited for six hours for a transfer, and when we got to the gate, we were told that the Czechs do not allow people with Russian passports. We had to urgently change our plans and take a ticket to Austria," sport24.ru quoted Karavayev as saying.

There he was met by his friend Martin Jiranek, a Czech national footballer who played for Spartak Moscow.

"In the end, it took us another three hours to get to Prague by car. The journey back was also adventurous. We barely had time to change planes when flying from Amsterdam to St Petersburg. The first flight was delayed, and the layover was only 1 hour and 10 minutes. As a result, we were running for the flight," Karavayev said.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Karavayev had earlier complained about the excessive demands of fans and experts on the players of the Russian national team.
