PMC Wagner says it has "a lot of other problems" after refusing to sponsor a club in Russia
The private military company Wagner has announced that it is not going to sponsor the Platov women's basketball club from Rostov-on-Don. This was Prigozhin's response to information that the team, managed by Valentin Makogonov, a veteran of the war in Ukraine, is even ready to change its name, including the name Wagner.
"At the moment, we have not received any letters from the Platov women's basketball team. We do not have a sports team sponsorship programme. Unfortunately, we have a lot of other problems today," the PMC press service said in a statement.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, on May 25, Platov allegedly approached Prigozhin himself with a request to become the club's technical and general sponsor.
Platov's management took this step, in part, because of its debts - last year it accumulated 760,000 rubles (about $10,000). In addition, the bookmaker wants to expand and start training children in Donetsk and Luhansk.
A few days ago, a man wearing a Wagner chevron raped two schoolgirls in Russia, threatening to blow them up.
