"It's hard to imagine": Russian Sports Minister speaks out about the admission of Russia to the Olympics-2024

Matytsin assessed the IOC's position

Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin expressed confidence that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will soon make a decision on the admission of athletes from Russia to the Games 2024. He added that he does not believe in a conspiracy by functionaries against representatives of the aggressor country.

Matytsin said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel Match TV. The official noted that he sees indications that the IOC wants Russia to return to the Olympics, but the committee fears harsh criticism from the public and problems with sponsors.

"I would not say that they are deliberately dragging it out. Indeed, there is an uncertain position, including on the part of the IOC, half of the federations allowed our athletes... The leadership of many international sports federations is under great political pressure from the states, partners. We can see their desire for Russia to take part in competitions, but we also see some uneasiness that they may come under fire of criticism and financial pressure. There have already been a lot of restrictions that we don't agree with. It's hard to imagine even greater restrictions," Matytsin said.

Earlier, the famous Russian commentator Dmitry Guberniev expressed confidence that Russia will not be allowed to the 2024 Olympic Games.

As reported OBOZREVATEL, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine issued an order to boycott the competitions, where athletes from Russia and Belarus will participate.
