He ignores the war in Ukraine and "becomes related" to Russians: Robert Downey Jr. showed his true position on Russia at the Oscars. Video

American actor Robert Downey Jr., who ignores the war started by Russia on the territory of Ukraine, has demonstrated his true attitude towards the aggressor country. At the Oscar 2025 ceremony, the celebrity addressed Russian actor Yuri Borisov from the stage, calling him "brother."

In addition, the 59-year-old Marvel star praised the performance of a Russian citizen in Sean Baker's Anora. It is worth noting that the film won several Oscar nominations, but Borisov failed to win the coveted Best Supporting Actor award. He was beaten by Kieran Culkin.

"Yura Borisov, where is he? Oh, right here. Wasn't he incredible in Anor? Great game, welcome to the world of success, brother. You have a great future and you are in your place. Am I right? Yes," said Robert Downey Jr.

In the video, which captures the moment of the Hollywood actor's praise of the Russian, you can see that Borisov was happy to hear such words from a world celebrity.

It's worth noting that this is not the first time the Avengers star has shown his position on Russia. In 2022, Robert Downey Jr. went out in public wearing socks with the inscription "Russia" on them. He demonstrated this wardrobe item, created by Russian designer Gosha Rubchinsky, during a family vacation.

At that time, the actor faced a lot of hate from the public. However, despite the negative publicity, Robert Downey Jr. decided not to comment on his choice of outfit and simply ignored all the criticism.

As previously reported by OBOZ.UA, the Avengers star's colleagues demonstrated a radically different position at the Oscar 2025 ceremony. Daryl Hannah expressed her support for Ukraine in a touching speech, and screenwriter Peter Strahan came to the event with a blue and yellow ribbon.
