Two-time Olympic hockey champion Vyacheslav Fetisov's father has died at the age of 92. This was announced by the 66-year-old Russian State Duma deputy himself, having refused to play in the Match of Stars in Vladivostok with the participants of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

"I will not be able to come to the match of stars in Vladivostok. Family circumstances. My dad has passed away," Fetisov told Match TV.

Last February 23, Fetisov, who is a close friend of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, garnered a lot of unflattering comments from Russian fans after his comment about a friendly match with Russians who returned from Ukraine. Fetisov marveled at those who recently killed civilians in Ukrainian cities.

Fetisov later cited Putin as one of the main reasons for his pride in Russia. The former hockey player, responding to a question about what the concept of homeland means to him, epically caved in to the president of the terrorist state.
