In Rostov-on-Don, a fan was killed when a grandstand collapsed on the territory of the Don canal. Another 15 people sustained moderate injuries. The incident occurred during a children's football match in 2010.
A thunderstorm broke out during the game. A group of children were hiding from the rain under a canopy. Due to strong squally winds, the stands failed and overturned.
"Eight adults were injured, one woman, unfortunately, died. The rest have been hospitalised: one in serious condition, the rest in moderate condition. And 10 children were injured, they are in hospital: one in a serious condition, the rest in a moderate condition," the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Rostov Region told TASS.
