The Ukrainian women's national sabre fencing team reached the semifinals of the World Championship-2023, which is held in Italy. In 1/4 finals our team consisting of Alina Komashchuk, Olga Kharlan, Elena Kravatska and Yulia Bakastova with the score 45:44 defeated the fifth seeded team of the USA.
The fight was very difficult for the Ukrainian women. Magda Skarbonkiewicz was able to organize a powerful breakthrough for her team, beating Harlan 5:0 in the first minutes.

Yulia Bakastova could do nothing and Elizabeth Tartakowski - the States' advantage increased to 7 points.
The turning point came on the 6th shift when Harlan broke Maya Chamberlain and put Ukraine ahead for the first time.
Thereafter, it was an even battle, with the yellow and blue team having a slight advantage. The denouement came in the final minutes of the match between Harlan and Tartakovski.
Olga equalized the score in a dramatic fight and then snatched the victory with the last blow. Ukraine will face France in the semifinals. Kick-off is at 12:50 Kyiv time.
