Elections in the United Kingdom will not affect interstate relations

Ukraine and the UK have built a strong relationship against the backdrop of Russia's full-scale invasion. They do not depend on who is in power both in Kyiv and London.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the British TV channel Channel 4 News. He added that Britain clearly demonstrates its support for Ukraine.

"We have built our relations with Britain. No matter how it may sound, but thanks to this war. They are very, very strong. We know that we can count on each other," the Ukrainian president said.

Answering the interviewer's question about the upcoming elections in the United Kingdom this year, which may result in a change of prime minister, Zelenskyy expressed confidence that this would not affect interstate relations.

"Regardless of who is sitting on Downing or Bankova Streets," the Ukrainian president said.

He added that London clearly demonstrates its support for Ukraine even in these difficult times.

"When you have a difficult period, you really see who stays with you on the day when everyone calls you and says you have 5 days... this is a very important moment," Zelenskyy emphasized.
