Zelenskyy meets with the Prime Minister of Albania as Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit kicks off in the capital. Video and all details

On Wednesday, February 28, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Albania on an unannounced visit. The purpose of the trip is defense and political cooperation between the countries, support for the Peace Formula, and work on security agreements.

This was announced by Albanian Foreign Minister Igli Hasani on X. He noted that he was pleased to welcome the Ukrainian leader to the capital Tirana.

"A key moment for strengthening bilateral ties and solidarity with Ukraine in its heroic struggle against Russian aggression," Hasani wrote.

President Zelenskyy will take part in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit in Tirana on February 28. The event is co-organized by the President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama. It will also be attended by 13 state leaders. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is likely to address the participants online.

Later, Zelenskyy posted on Telegram that, in addition to attending the summit, he plans to meet "with an uncompromising friend of Ukraine, Edi Rama."

"We will hold talks with the Prime Minister of Albania and his team on defense and political cooperation, support for the Peace Formula and work on security agreements. Albania is one of the countries that joined the G7 Vilnius Declaration, for which we are very grateful," the President emphasized.

At the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit, Zelenskyy plans to discuss with the participants Ukraine's efforts to ensure a just and lasting peace, the organization of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, and hold bilateral meetings with the summit participants.

Euronews reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana .

The press service of the President's Office reported that during a meeting in Tirana, Zelenskyy and Rama signed the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Albania. According to the agreement, our countries will develop mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy, science, as well as technology, culture, education, healthcare, media, tourism, and sports.

It is also envisaged to establish commercial contacts between state and private enterprises and organizations of the two countries.

The President of Ukraine presented the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, first class, to the Albanian Prime Minister for his significant contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and popularizing our country in the world.

After Zelenskyy and Rama's talks in Tirana, the meeting ceremony of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit began, which can be viewed on the president's Facebook page.

To recap, on February 27, President Zelenskyy visited Saudi Arabia. The Head of State met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud and discussed the Ukrainian formula for peace.

The President noted that the leadership of Saudi Arabia had already contributed to the liberation of Ukrainians from captivity and expressed confidence that this meeting would also lead to positive results. The parties also discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Saudi Arabia in the economic and technological spheres.
