On June 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in the Kherson region on a working visit. He held a coordination meeting on the elimination of the consequences of the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam explosion. Also in the evacuation point at the base of one of the medical institutions of Kherson the Ukrainian leader talked to the injured people.

This was reported by the head of state on his official Telegram channel. He named the issues that were discussed at the meeting:

- the operational situation in the affected regions of Kherson region and the operational military situation in the zone of man-made disaster;

- evacuation of the population from potential flood zones;

- liquidation of the emergency situation caused by the blowing up of the dam;

- organization of life support of flooded territories;

- prospects for restoration of the region's ecosystem.

"It is important to calculate losses and allocate funds to compensate residents affected by the disaster and develop a program to compensate for losses or relocate businesses within Kherson," Zelensky added.

The president also visited the crossing in Kherson, which is used to evacuate people from the flooded areas.

"Our task is to protect life and help people as much as possible. Thanks to the rescuers and volunteers! Thank you to everyone involved in this work!" - he wrote in Telegram.

The OP's website reports that Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klimenko, who headed the headquarters for the liquidation of the consequences of the explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, reported to the president on the operational situation.

According to him, an assessment of losses was given, probable risks were calculated, tasks for evacuation and provision of affected population with water and electricity, overcoming possible sanitary and epidemic threats were determined. Railway and road transport is prepared to evacuate people, and evacuation points are deployed on the basis of individual health care institutions.

Head of the State Emergency Service Sergiy Kruk and General Director of PJSC "Ukrhydroenergo" Ihor Sirota reported on the elimination of the emergency situation caused by the blowing up of the dam.

Also the report of the head of Kherson regional military administration Olexander Prokudin on the organization of life support in the flooded areas was heard.

Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strilets spoke about the prospects for renewal of the region's ecosystem, and Mykhailo Drapatiy, commander of the operational group of troops "Kherson" - about the military situation in the zone of man-made disaster.

Zelensky also visited one of the medical institutions in Kherson, where the evacuation point is located. The specific location is not named.

The head of state wrote that there he talked to people affected by the flood. "You are going through this ordeal right now. We will help, and everything that needs to be rebuilt, we will rebuild. Thank you and wish you well," the president said.

He also thanked the staff at the medical facility for getting the job done even under fire. "You are heroic people," the head of our country stressed.
