Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid an official visit to Bulgaria on 6 July. As part of the visit, he held talks with Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov, the main topic of which was defense cooperation.
The head of state said so in his Telegram channel. "The main focus of our talks is, of course, the security of our countries and all of our Europe, defense support and defense cooperation. The fundamental priority is energy and strengthening our unity in Europe. Thank you for the talks!" - the message reads.
Earlier, Zelensky noted that in Sofia he would hold "thorough talks" with Denkov, as well as President Rumen Radev.
He is also scheduled to meet with other officials, parliamentarians and journalists to discuss military aid, Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration, the upcoming NATO summit, security guarantees and the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula.
In her turn, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Foreign Ministry Maria Gabriel published a photo of Zelensky's meeting at the airport.
Meanwhile, Bulgarian media report that security measures have been tightened in Sofia in connection with the visit of the Ukrainian president. A large number of law enforcers are stationed outside the government buildings.

- On July 4, Bulgaria approved a draft declaration of support for Ukraine's accession to NATO after the war and continued military support for Ukraine. Thus Sofia took the first step to support Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
- On June 27, Bulgaria approved a new military aid package for Ukraine. Its content was not disclosed, but it is expected to be commensurate with the first one.
- Earlier, Zelensky showed a "lucky" chevron given to him by an AFU soldier on the front line. According to the president, our defenders will leave the enemies no chance.
