"Ukrainians, Britain is with you!" Rishi Sunak arrived for a visit to Kyiv and will announce a new package of assistance to Ukraine
On Friday, January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived in Kyiv on an official visit. He will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and address a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada.
The politician is expected to announce a new package of military assistance, security guarantees, and humanitarian support for the Ukrainian state to fight the Russian aggressor. This was reported by Sky News with reference to the press service of the head of the British government.
"I am in Ukraine to deliver a simple message. Our support cannot and will not weaken. To all Ukrainians: Britain is with you - for as long as you need it," the politician wrote on social media upon his arrival in Kyiv.
It is noted that Britain will provide Ukraine with military assistance worth £2.5 billion in 2024-2025, which is £200 million more than in the previous two years.
"This comes amid fears that interest in the war is waning as the conflict drags on," the report said.
According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the British prime minister will speak in parliament on Friday.
During his visit, Sunak will also sign a security cooperation agreement with the Ukrainian leader. According to the agreement, London will provide intelligence sharing with Kyiv, guarantee cybersecurity, medical and military training, and defense-industrial cooperation.
