President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi had a telephone conversation on April 26, the anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy. The Ukrainian leader stressed that the territory of the plant must be liberated from the invaders to protect the world from another catastrophe.

Zelenskyy announced the talks on his Telegram channel. During the conversation, he thanked Grossi for the medical support of Ukrainian nuclear workers.

"On the anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy, I had a telephone conversation with IAEA Director Rafael Grossi. I stressed that only the return of full control over the ZNPP to Ukraine will protect the world from a new catastrophe. I also thanked for the IAEA's special programme for medical support of Ukrainian nuclear workers," the President said.

Earlier, the IAEA found significant damage to the windows of the turbine hall of the fourth power unit at the occupied ZNPP.

- Energoatom also warned of the possibility of such a scenario.
