The impact will be felt in two to four months: the US assessed the consequences of Trump's decision to suspend aid to Ukraine
The United States immediately began to estimate when exactly Ukraine would feel the impact of President Donald Trump's decision to suspend military aid. It is believed that without American equipment and weapons, the Ukrainian front will begin to "break down" in three to four months, unless Kyiv agrees to fulfill Washington's conditions for continuing peace talks.
The article with the timeline appeared on CNN's website following the news of the American leader's decision. Like the previous time, analysts, among other things, refer to unnamed, "knowledgeable" officials from the White House.
"It will take some time - perhaps a few days or weeks - for the effects of the US pause in military aid to be felt by Ukrainian fighters on the battlefield. But as soon as the country's current stockpile begins to run out, the effect will be serious," said one official.
In his opinion, this will happen even if Ukraine's European partners rush to provide additional assistance. He is convinced that "there is a capacity gap" that Europe is currently "unable to fill on its own."
Mark Kanchian, Senior Advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, said that Trump's move will be felt within two to four months, as the assistance of European countries so far has enabled the Ukrainian Armed Forces to "stay in the fight." He predicts that as soon as the "Ukrainian front begins to crumble," Kyiv will unfairly "have to make peace."
"The impact will be great. I would call it devastating. When your stockpiles are halved, it eventually affects the front line. The front lines will continue to distort, and eventually they will collapse, and Ukraine will have to accept an unfavorable - even catastrophic - peace settlement," Kanchian said.
At the same time, he added that the US administration has more forms of assistance to Ukraine that "can be suspended or canceled altogether," including intelligence sharing and training for the Ukrainian military.
"There may be a way out of this, but it will be extremely humiliating for Volodymyr Zelenskyy," the American analyst said.
As a reminder, Donald Trump ordered the suspension of military aid to Ukraine as a direct response to what he sees as Zelenskiy's "bad behavior" at a meeting at the White House last week. Officials from the US administration noted that the pause could be lifted if the Ukrainian leader demonstrates a "new commitment" to negotiations to end the war brokered by Trump.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, former NATO commander General Sir Richard Shirreff said that Ukraine could do without US support: "the situation will not be hopeless" due to the depletion of Russia's military potential. However, he emphasized that Europe should no longer count on Washington as an ally to resolve the war in Ukraine.
