So it was a setup: the nuance with the journalist who asked Zelenskyy about his suit at the White House is revealed

Lilia RagutskaPolitics

The reporter Brian Glenn, who asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House if he had a suit and accused the head of state of "disrespect," turned out to be a representative of the pro-Trump network Real America's Voice. He got a seat in the Oval Office after the White House blocked access for Associated Press journalists.

Among the "achievements" of this "expert" on dress codes for presidents was a relationship with Trumpist Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who spread Kremlin narratives about "biolabs in Ukraine" and accused our country of "Nazism" and "torture of civilians." The reporter's name was mentioned by The Washington Post correspondent Drew Harwell on the X network, and his followers suspected a deliberate provocation.

"The reporter who asked Zelenskyy if he had a suit, Brian Glenn, is a representative of the pro-Trump network Real America's Voice and the boyfriend of Marjorie Taylor Greene. He got one of the rare interviewer spots in the Oval Office after the White House blocked the Associated Press," Harwell wrote.

He also posted a video of the moment of provocation by Glenn. It was he who linked Zelenskyy's clothes to the alleged "disrespect" he showed for the dignity of the US president and the American people.

"My question to President Zelenskyy. Why don't you wear a suit? Why don't you wear a suit? You visit the headquarters of this country and you refuse to wear a suit. I just want to check if you have a suit. Many Americans are outraged that you don't respect the dignity of the administration of the President of the United States," a reporter shouted in the Oval Office.

According to Times Now News, Glenn has recently become "the chief conservative media correspondent for the Voice of Real America in the White House." The reporter, who has a large audience on social media, focused on covering Trump's "victories." Even before he won the presidential election, he often conducted exclusive interviews with the US president, broadcasting live from his rallies, and gained considerable popularity among MAGA (Make America Great Again) supporters.

Glenn also has a relationship with Trumpist congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who regularly makes anti-Ukrainian statements, is fiercely opposed to US support for Ukraine, and is known for spreading various conspiracy theories.

Marjorie Taylor Greene's attacks on Ukraine have been recorded since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. For example, in the spring of 2022, she published a collection of videos created by Russian propagandists with footage of looters tied to poles by Ukrainians without providing any context – and accused Ukraine of "torturing civilians" and "Nazism."

She regularly demanded that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden stop providing aid to Ukraine, and when Congress considered the allocation of such aid, she submitted a series of amendments demanding that every congressman who supported such allocation join the Armed Forces, that Ukraine "close all its biolabs," stop "harassing the Orthodox Church," and so on.

In addition, Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly spread all sorts of conspiracy theories. In particular, during the pandemic, she called on Americans to arm themselves to stop coronavirus vaccinations.

Nevertheless, in the comments to The Washington Post's tweet about the reporter's persona, who was very annoyed by Zelenskyy's outfit, only a few users shared Glenn's view that the lack of a business suit on the Ukrainian president was a manifestation of disrespect for the American nation and Trump.

The majority of them indignantly defended the Ukrainian president.

"So, it was a setup," "He (Zelenskyy – Ed.) doesn't need to play dress-up. Clothes don't make the man," "He promised his people, the Ukrainian people, to wear military clothes until the war is over. It's a sign of respect for the Ukrainian people." "I can easily see how you would accuse him of fraud with these funds if he came all shiny in an expensive suit. "Wow, now I see where all those billions went!" Do you see it too? You would have found a flaw no matter what, because you are being manipulated to hate him," users commented under the post.

Often in the comments, there is a photo of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who also wore a military uniform during World War II.

"He (Zelenskyy – Ed.) is wearing military clothes to show that his country is at war and to demonstrate solidarity with its military and citizens." "Think of it this way: the Ukrainian president's suit is his message to the soldiers on the battlefield: "I am fighting for freedom together with you." My question to you is: do you think President Trump would ever do the same thing to American soldiers?", "Is this how you measure people? What are they wearing? He's fighting for his country, Trump and Vance only need knee pads. The Kremlin has a hard floor," "You guys are so fucking ignorant. His country is in ruins, his people are dying in the streets, and you don't understand why he doesn't want to wear a suit? He's showing solidarity with his people, as a leader should," "His country is at war, it's a non-verbal message. But everyone understands this, except for the people who voted for the egocentric and idiot," commentators wrote.

Billionaire Elon Musk, who, having started working in Trump's team, comes to the White House in completely unofficial outfits, also got a piece of the action.

"The man (Zelenskyy – Ed.) is at war with Russia. What's Elon's excuse?" one user asked, to which he received the answer that Musk is also at war – with the mothers of his many children.

"How do you feel about Elon Musk? Maybe not so much, right? You're mad that he didn't spend money on clothes... to meet a couple of assholes, by the way. The world is watching – Trump is turning America into Putin's best ally," another commenter wrote.

Earlier, the American congressman showed the hypocrisy of Trump and his team with one photo. The topic of Zelenskyy's clothes, who promised not to wear business suits while his country is at war, became the leitmotif of the failed meeting with Trump and Vance, as well as one of the arguments for claims that Zelenskyy "disrespects" the American nation.
