How many Ukrainians support Zelenskyy and regard him as a patriot: poll results

Katya PopliuikoPolitics

63% of Ukrainians fully or mostly approve of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's presidency. However, 73% of respondents regard the Ukrainian leader as a true patriot.

This is reported by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, which cites the results of a study by the Onukh IBIF project funded by the British Academy. It should be noted that support for the president has increased compared to previous polls.

The sociologists noted that the data in the graph reflects a level of approval that is close to the level of trust, but these two indicators are not completely identical – for example, you can positively assess someone's performance but not necessarily trust that person.

In addition, both approval and trust are different from the electoral rating, which is formed during voting, when voters choose a candidate from a list. When voting, people choose other evaluation criteria that reflect their different attitudes.

"Nowadays, many people manipulate the data and present the level of approval/trust as electoral ratings, which is incorrect. Therefore, we ask you to be careful," KIIS said in a statement.

In addition, the survey asked Ukrainians about the qualities that Volodymyr Zelenskyy possesses, and the majority of respondents noted his positive traits: 74% consider him to be a patriot of Ukraine, 73% – an intelligent person, 60% – honest and trustworthy, and 65% – a strong leader.

"Assessments that many Western leaders would envy," the sociologists emphasized.

As a reminder, according to the poll, 57% of Ukrainians trust Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while only 37% of respondents express distrust in him. Sociologists are convinced that the results show high public support for the president, which is a good indicator of a democratic country.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on February 19, Zelenskyy reacted to the US President's statement about the alleged 4% of Ukrainians' trust in him. He noted that such data is Russian disinformation. Zelenskyy also emphasized that new opinion polls would be conducted soon.
