On June 9, Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff to discuss the situation on the frontline. During the meeting, the Head of State heard reports from the commanders of operational areas, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the heads of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Strategic Industries and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Zelenskyy spoke about this on Friday, June 9, in his evening address (to watch the video, scroll to the end). He noted that attention is now focused on all areas where the Defence Forces need to act and where the enemy may suffer certain defeats.

"Our defensive actions, active actions, our achievements on the frontline. We discussed in detail the supply and distribution of ammunition, the strengthening of our artillery and air defence," the guarantor said.

In particular, today it became known about a new package of defence support from the United States of America worth more than $2 billion. It will include missiles for Patriot and other air defence systems.

"Strengthening our defence on the ground, strengthening the strength of all our soldiers. Thank you, President Biden, thank you to both parties of Congress and all Americans who want freedom to win just like Ukrainians," the Head of State stressed.

Also on Friday, the President held talks with the Prime Ministers of Japan and the Netherlands. He told them about the rescue operation in the south of Ukraine, where people are suffering from flooding, and informed them about the urgent needs of our country.

These countries are ready to help Ukraine, in particular, there are decisions on humanitarian support packages.

"With the Prime Minister of Japan, we discussed the preparation of the Global Peace Summit and the conference in Japan on the restoration and transformation of our country after the hostilities. With the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, we discussed our further defence cooperation and coordinated our positions before the next Ramstein. We are moving step by step to strengthen our air shield. We discussed the Patriot coalition and the training of our pilots," Zelenskyy added.

Situation in southern Ukraine

The President said that during the day he receives reports on the rescue operation in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as on the state of the Kakhovka reservoir - in fact, its remains, the guarantor noted.

According to him, there are a huge number of problems in the south.

"We are working to overcome them at all possible levels. And the main thing is that we have the social potential to do it. To take care of each other, to work in unity, to protect people and lives. These are our principles, the principles of a struggling Ukraine. These principles are one hundred per cent in force now. And I am confident that no matter how difficult it is, we will overcome the consequences of this disaster and all Russian evil," Zelensky said.

He thanked everyone in the world who is already helping and who is asking Ukraine how it can help. The President also thanked everyone who has already joined the rescue operation and is helping people and animals.

"I thank everyone who encourages international organisations, foreign leaders and other states to see what happened and call it like it is. Russian terrorists must be held accountable for everything they have done," he added.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Zelenskyy said that the evacuation of local residents affected by the Russian occupiers' explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region is underway. The catastrophe has ruined the lives of Ukrainians in more than 40 settlements, and access to drinking water has been significantly hampered for hundreds of thousands of people in many towns and villages.
