"Fictional state": Romanian politician calls division of Ukraine "inevitable" and threatens to take part of the country
Romanian presidential candidate Kelin Georgescu has attacked the territorial integrity of Ukraine. According to the far-right pro-Russian politician, some Ukrainian regions could allegedly join Romania.
Moreover, Georgescu called Ukraine a "fictional state." He said this in an interview with journalist Ion Cristoiu.
The politician said that the change of Ukraine's borders is "inevitable," so Romania should already think about which regions can be taken away from the neighboring country. In addition, he believes that some regions of Ukraine could allegedly "join" Poland and Hungary.
"The world is changing, borders will change. Moreover, if the borders change, where will we be? We have an interest in Northern Bukovyna. We have Bujak, we have Northern Maramures, right? From the former... what was it called... Transcarpathia! There are also Hungarians... Lviv, which will remain with the Poles, and Malorossia," Georgescu said.
At the same time, the pro-Russian politician has no doubt that the only way forward for Ukraine is to "divide the country." Georgescu also added that he considers our country a "Soviet socialist republic."
"One hundred percent it will be. Well, they have no other way! The road to something like this is inevitable. Ukraine is a fictional state. It is the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic," the politician said.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Constitutional Court of Romania annulled the results of the first round of the presidential election, in which the pro-Russian politician Georgescu was declared the winner.
Repeated presidential elections in Romania will be held in May. The decision has already been made by the government coalition, but the date of the presidential election will be officially approved at a government meeting.
In early January, several thousand supporters of pro-Russian politician Kelin Georgescu protested outside the Romanian parliament building. They demanded that the Constitutional Court's decision to annul the results of the first round of the presidential election be overturned and that the second round of voting be resumed.
Earlier it was reported that the Romanian Prosecutor General's Office is investigating Russian interference in the presidential election. Prior to that, the Romanian Supreme Defense Council declassified documents about the aggressive election campaign of Kelin Georgescu on the social network TikTok. About 25,000 accounts were used to increase his popularity and manipulate public opinion.
