Old photographs remain an opportunity for us to see what Kyiv used to be like. For example, Yaschevsky's publishing house printed a photo with a unique panorama of the capital in 1903.
The old photo from that period was published in the Old Kyiv community on Facebook. You can see how the capital looked like about 120 years ago.
"Panorama of old Kyiv. 1903. Publishing house by C. Yaschevsky," the post reads.
In the picture you can see the city itself, but unfortunately, it is impossible to understand where the photo was taken.

Bessarabska Square in Kyiv was founded in the early 19th century as a marketplace where traders from southern Ukraine and Bessarabia came to trade. Few people know that there used to be a cemetery on its site, which was founded by the Lutheran community of the capital.
Rusanivka in Kyiv is the first residential area to be built on an artificially created island. The beauty and comfort of this location, in particular, were immediately appreciated by the scientists, teachers, and artists who settled there.
