American figure skater Ilia Malinin was the first ever to perform all quadruple jumps at a competition. On Saturday, December 9, the 19-year-old won the final of the Grand Prix in Beijing, performing a quadruple Rittberger jump in the free skate for the first time.
Previously, he jumped a quadruple Axel, quadruple Lutz, quadruple Flip, backward quadruple and quadruple Salchow at competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU).
Ilia was born on December 2, 2004, in Fairfax, Virginia, to figure skaters Tatiana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov, who competed internationally for Uzbekistan.
In September 2022, Malinin was the first ever to perform a clean quadruple Axel at a competition at the US International Classic in Lake Placid. With a base value of 12.50 points for the quadruple Axel, the judges awarded the jump +1.00 points for the quality of execution, and Malinin received 13.50 points for the jump. He was included in the Guinness Book of World Records for his quadruple Axel.
