Without Johnny Depp: when will the next part of "Pirates of the Caribbean" start filming
"Pirates of the Caribbean" first appeared on the big screen back in 2003 and has since become a real hit. The American fantasy adventure film received incredible ratings and box office receipts, so the authors and screenwriters did not hesitate to make sequels.
Recently, the fans of the movie were told great news – the next installment of "Pirates" is about to start shooting. However, the joy was overshadowed by the fact that the iconic actor Johnny Depp will not be starring in the sequel. The details were reported by World of Reel.
There is currently no information about the film's cast, but experts do not advise expecting Johnny Depp to return as Captain Jack Sparrow.
There are rumors that one movie will be a complete reboot of the original with a completely new cast. Also in the works is a female-oriented film that will have plot ties to the previous "Pirates" installments. According to insider information, Margot Robbie will play the lead role. "Pirates" producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the franchise will have more than one reboot.
One of these two projects was probably originally written by "The Last of Us" creator Craig Mazin and "Pirates" screenwriter Ted Elliott, and later rewritten by Jeff Nathanson ("The Young Woman and the Sea").
The audience was divided in their opinions. Some are looking forward to the relaunch of their favorite story, while others say that nothing can be done better than the original. Especially without Johnny Depp, who was the real star of "Pirates."
Some say that Depp's absence only makes these upcoming films more unnecessary – Jack Sparrow was the best, and sometimes the only reason to watch the previous installments.
The Pirates franchise was "dead" to many fans, especially after the last installment, 2017's "Salazar's Revenge." Many critics and fans agree that the best film was the original in 2003, but negotiations about money and rebooting the project take place almost daily in Hollywood.
