Why you should never fill up your car to the brim

The dangers of filling up a full tank

Some drivers are used to filling up their cars to the brim. Experts say that if you don't follow the rules, this can be very dangerous.

In addition to fuel leakage, it can cause problems with the tank's ventilation system and disrupt the functioning of the valves. Read more about why you shouldn't fill up a full tank in the OBOZREVATEL article.

According to experts, drivers should give up the habit of constantly filling their cars to the brim or at least carefully monitor compliance with safety rules.

Failure to disconnect the filling gun in a timely manner can cause fuel to leak through the neck. After that, gasoline will get into the vehicle body or its parts. The slightest spark, even from a cigarette, can cause a car to catch fire instantly.

Drivers also often suck up the last drops after the system has finished delivering fuel. This seemingly harmless habit can cause damage to the tank's ventilation system and a number of valves.

The ventilation pipe is covered by a gravity valve that protects the tank from fuel spills in the event of an accident. Filling up the car to the brim can inadvertently disrupt the functioning of the valves. There is a drainage system behind the car wings, and the dripping fuel can get on the wiring, suspension components, and brake hoses. This can cause a fire too.
