Where to put an orchid to make it bloom lush more frequently
Although orchids are known as houseplants, according to experts, this beautiful plant can literally come to life if placed in the garden.
This may sound shocking to many, especially considering that it's cold outside. However, Sari Lampinen revealed the best conditions for orchids to bloom outdoors in her blog Garden Design Stories.
A simple "trick" is to bring orchids into the garden as soon as summer arrives. "They could benefit from the humidity in the air, slight changes in the temperature, and the natural cycles of day and night," the expert explained.
To get the best results, place orchids in hanging baskets outside in warm weather.
This is made to prevent pests, such as snails, from attacking them. But this is not the only thing to consider. It is also important to place the hanging basket in a place where there is no direct sunlight, which can burn the orchid leaves.
Another point is to protect the orchid from heavy rain. Thus, the best place to hang the basket would be a sheltered spot in the garden.
As for the outside temperature, it is advisable to wait until June to move orchids outside. Then, depending on the weather, the orchids will need to be brought back inside when the temperature drops in late August or early September.
