When to start mowing the lawn after winter

ObozrevatelNews

Regular lawn mowing throughout the year is essential if you want to have healthy and green grass. However, gardeners often put their mowers away for the winter due to the fact that grass growth stops in cold weather.

With spring just around the corner, gardening experts have shared when exactly to start mowing the grass again. According to the professionals, if you want to have a "neat lawn," you should mow it weekly or bi-weekly starting in March. They added that this will keep the grass in good condition, OBOZ.UA writes.

However, if your lawn has a lot of flowers, you should refrain from mowing it in March to provide much-needed support for pollinators.

Choose the top setting for the first spring mowing to avoid clogging the tool with clippings. If the grass is very long, you may need to trim it first to reduce the overall height and then rake the cuttings before proceeding with the mower.

Almost all mowers allow you to adjust the cutting height to suit different seasons and lawn styles. Lawns that are often left with long grass can suffer from poor growth, so it is important to mow them regularly.

When the weather gets warmer, it is best to mow early in the morning so that the grass does not burn in the midday heat.
