When to prune withered hydrangeas so that they come to life quickly after winter
Hydrangeas are a centerpiece of any garden, as they are known for their very beautiful flowers in summer. If you take care of them properly, they will delight you year after year.
Many gardeners wonder what to do with withered hydrangea flowers in the fall – cut them off immediately or wait. According to experts, hydrangeas should be pruned only in the spring after the last frost. Then you need to remove only dead shoots to new shoots and fertilize the plants, OBOZ.UA writes.
But withered flowers should not be cut off until the first frost has passed, as they protect the bush from freezing.
Some hydrangeas bloom on new shoots, while others prefer to set flower buds on old wood. Regardless, it is best to wait until spring to prune all hydrangeas.
For pruning, you only need a pair of gardening gloves, secateurs, and a container for storing dried flowers.
