What to check if your car is consuming fuel quickly: advice for drivers
If you notice that your car has "poor acceleration" or "wastes fuel," it could be due to a serious breakdown.
An automotive expert with the nickname @chequanxiaoqiao on TikTok posted a video urging drivers to pay attention to such signals from their cars, as they may indicate a problem with the camshaft solenoid valve.
"This part is not easily damaged, but if it is not properly maintained, it is very easy to clog it," she explained.
The expert also demonstrated how you can clean it yourself. She said that you should "unscrew the screw at the bottom," saying that a wrench is "very cheap and can be bought anywhere," so it should definitely be in your kit.
Then "pull the plug" but she reported that it "can be tight". In her case, the valve was "dirty" and "covered in oil sludge".
To clean it, the video's author laid paper towels on the floor and took a carburetor cleaning spray. She sprayed it on, and all the dirt came off. According to her, all these substances were blocking the filter, which is why the engine oil was not working properly.
What is a camshaft solenoid valve and what is it for?
A camshaft solenoid valve is an electronically controlled valve in an engine that regulates oil flow to adjust camshaft torque, thus optimizing valve opening and closing to improve fuel efficiency and engine performance in various driving conditions.
