Volkswagen wants to sell its famous low-cost best-seller for longer
Volkswagen is considering extending the life cycle of the current 8th generation Golf model. It is the company's famous low-cost bestseller that has a cult following. But that doesn't mean the model isn't in for a dramatic change.
The details have become known to Top Gear. A fully electric variant of the VW Golf will appear in the next, ninth generation of the model - tentatively by 2028. However, the current car with an internal combustion engine will last in production until 2035.
That is, in terms of timing, the manufacturer wants to "bump" into the ban on selling new cars with internal combustion engines in the EU. And in 2024, the VW Golf model turns 50 years old. The new Volkswagen Golf 8.5 is a suitable opportunity to celebrate this high-profile anniversary.

Obviously, after the restyling, the car has changed slightly. However, the new Golf became more modern and received a front bumper in the style of VW Passat 9 generation.
In the cabin there is a new equipment. The main thing is a modernized infotainment system. The manufacturer has finalized this tool, now the multimedia complex works faster and more stable. The system will receive an assistant with artificial intelligence.
