Volkswagen and Rivian to strengthen cooperation in electric car segment
Volkswagen and Rivian's cooperation has been attracting a lot of attention lately. And the companies will become even closer - thanks to this, inexpensive electric vehicle models from the two manufacturers will become even more popular.
Motor1 has learned the details. VW is interested in catching up with more savvy rivals in the EV sector. Rivian is a great fit as a partner, especially given the agreements already reached.
Earlier, it became known about a joint venture between Volkswagen and Rivian worth $5.8 billion. The manufacturers are preparing Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) architecture for future models.
First of all, it is the basis for the 9th generation VW Golf. The new Volkswagen e-Golf (as the electric version of the 7th generation Volkswagen Golf was called) is expected to replace the VW ID.3. Other models are likely to follow.
For Rivian, this cooperation will be fruitful because it will allow the company to enter the European market with its cheapest electric cars - Rivian R2, R3, and R3X models.
