UK closes program for legal stay of Ukrainians in the country
The UK has closed one of the two programs for the legal stay of Ukrainians in its territory, the Ukraine Family Scheme. Under this program, Ukrainians could obtain a visa if they had relatives in the UK.
This is stated in a government statement. Thus, the Homes for Ukraine program continues to operate. If you want a family from the UK to sponsor you for 6 months, you can apply under the Homes for Ukraine sponsorship scheme if you have an approved sponsor.
"If you have been granted leave to remain in the UK under one of the Ukrainian programs, you can apply for a further 18 months' leave to remain in the UK under the new extension of leave to remain in Ukraine. You will be able to apply 3 months before your existing visa expires," the statement reads.
The family program for Ukrainians closed at 15:00 on February 19, 2024. It allowed eligible Ukrainian citizens to join family members or extend their stay in the UK.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the rules for Ukrainians in the Czech Republic will soon change. Temporary protection is planned to be extended until the end of March 2025, but the period of free housing for refugees will be limited. Deportation of persons with temporary protection status will also be allowed.
