Three large asteroids approaching Earth: is there a danger?

The Earth has repeatedly encountered large asteroids, which is why astronomers are so vigilant about which space objects are approaching our planet. And they have warned that as many as three large space boulders will fly by shortly.

According to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, one of the asteroids will be the size of a private house and two more will be the size of an airplane. All of them will fly at the minimum distance from the Earth on March 18.

One asteroid, called 2024 ED3, has an estimated size of 29 meters. It will fly 1.35 million kilometers away from us.

The second, which will approach the Earth on the same day, is called 2024 EN. It is almost one and a half times larger, with an estimated size of 43 meters. But it will also fly a little further - 1.48 million kilometers.

The last of the three will be the smallest. NASA experts estimated the size of the 2024 EN3 object at 16 meters. It will fly the farthest of all three. The maximum point of its approach to the Earth will be 2.14 million kilometers.

With such a distance, these asteroids will not pose a threat to our planet. However, it is worth noting that the largest of the three is comparable in size to the famous asteroid that caused the Tunguska disaster in 1908. The size of the boulder was 48.37 meters, and its collision with the Earth caused the death of 80 million trees over an area of 2,000 square kilometers. Human casualties were avoided only because the asteroid fell into the remote taiga.
