The United Kingdom has hit Russia's oil and gold: The organization, at whose congress Putin spoke, was also sanctioned

The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on Russia's oil and gold mining industry. The restrictions affect 29 individuals and legal entities, including the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, whose congress was recently attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by the British government. They noted that the sanctions are the United Kingdom's response to the actions of these individuals aimed at

• undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty or independence of Ukraine;
• obtaining the benefit or support of the Russian Government.

Also among those sanctioned is a network based in the UAE, through which, according to the British authorities, more than $300 million in gold sales were transferred to Russia. And besides:

• Russia's 2 largest gold producers - Nord Gold Plc and Highland Gold Mining Ltd;
• energy company Paramount Energy & Commodities DMCC - for the use of non-transparent structures that Russia used to reduce the impact of G7 oil sanctions;
• Head of Rosfinmonitoring Yuri Chikhanchin,
• Russian National Reinsurance Company;
• Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

By the way, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently spoke at the congress of the latter. At the time, he said that Western countries were facing empty store shelves and a massive shortage of goods, and it had already reached the point where they would soon have to buy turnips from Russia, which they allegedly already eat instead of tomatoes.

"Foreign analysts predicted a depression and a decline in the consumer sector. They promised us empty store shelves, massive shortages of goods, and the failure of the service sector. However, Western countries have faced the same problems themselves. It has gotten to the point where their leaders are suggesting that their citizens switch to turnips instead of lettuce and tomatoes. But they will probably have to come to us for turnips, too," he said.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, at the same time, the relevant committee of the US lower house supported a bill that would allow confiscating Russia's frozen assets in the future. The proceeds are supposed to be used to help Ukraine.
