The long-awaited Mitsubishi SUV will be cheaper than expected
The legendary Mitsubishi Pajero SUV (also known as the Mitsubishi Montero in some markets) is preparing for a long-awaited return to the lineup. It turned out that the novelty will be cheaper than many initially assumed.
New details became known to Motor1. The Mitsubishi Pajero model was discontinued in 2021 (not to be confused with the smaller Mitsubishi Pajero Sport based on the Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck). But amid the popularity of traditional SUVs, the Japanese manufacturer is preparing a revival of the car.
Earlier it was reported that the new model will be built on the basis of the Nissan Patrol/Armada. A new generation of these huge vehicles has recently debuted. The flagship Infiniti QX80 SUV is built on the same platform. And this is a problem.
Within the alliance, the manufacturers discussed the construction of a new 5th generation Mitsubishi Pajero based on the Patrol/Armada/QX80. However, Nissan denied that it would be inappropriate for such a high-end model to "share" its technical developments.
In fact, Mitsubishi will be developing the vehicles on its own. For this purpose, the CMF-C/D platform will be modernized. Thus, the car will be a little more compact, but also cheaper.
