The goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team, who stayed in Europe, unexpectedly ended his career at the age of 20, deciding not to connect his life with hockey anymore
Goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national youth hockey team Hlib Artsatbanov has decided to end his playing career at the age of 20, Sport.ua reports. Hlib played for the Prague Sparta youth team, with which he became the Czech champion in 2023. In the same year, he could have entered the NHL draft, but his candidacy did not attract the attention of league clubs.
After that, the Ukrainian moved to the Canadian BCHL club Elberni Valley, where he failed to gain a foothold. In the summer, Artsatbanov received an offer to continue his career in the United States, but decided to retire from hockey.
Hlib was the 3rd goalkeeper for the Ukrainian national team at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, where the team won the 1A division, and also played for the youth team.
The former athlete currently lives in Europe.
