The European Union has agreed on the 12th package of sanctions against Russia. The list of restrictions includes new import and export bans, as well as measures to improve the mechanism for limiting the price of Russian oil and measures to combat sanctions evasion.

This was announced by EU High Representative Josep Borrell. According to him, his joint proposal with the European Commission was presented to the EU Council. It is this body that will have to make the final decision on the introduction of the 12th package of sanctions against Russia.

The package will be aimed not only at combating the circumvention of sanctions, according to the European Union's Diplomatic Service. In particular, it is proposed to introduce:

  • sanctions against more than 120 individuals and legal entities for their role in undermining Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity - in particular, participants in the Russian military, defense, and IT sectors;
  • new import and export bans;
  • and measures to increase the oil price ceiling.

"The proposed measures are aimed at those who organized the recent illegal so-called "elections" in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, those responsible for the forced "re-education" of Ukrainian children, and those who spread disinformation and propaganda in support of Russia's aggressive war," the statement said.
