The Telegram messenger created by Russian Pavel Durov has often been criticized for its lack of transparency. And in the next update, the app plans to improve this situation.
According to iTechUA, Telegram will expand the ability to display information about the interlocutor. The new feature is already available in the beta version of the app for the Android operating system.
The data that can be obtained about chat participants will include information that should help fight fake accounts. According to the developers, the feature should help verify real people and become a step towards combating the misuse of the platform. Here's what you can find out about your interlocutor on Telegram:
- country of registration of the phone number – this will help to understand where the messenger user comes from;
- date of account creation – the profile will begin to show the month and year of its registration, which will help improve the assessment of user reliability;
- number of common groups – will help you determine how closely a particular Telegram user is connected to you;
- verification status – profiles that have passed the official Telegram verification procedure will receive a special mark.
The update is currently being tested with Android users. Soon it should become available to all Telegram users.
