Last year, the market watched the confrontation of the cheapest model Dacia from Renault with the electric crossover Tesla Model Y. In 2024, the famous budget car caused a stir and came off far ahead.
The compact Dacia Sandero topped the sales rankings. According to Carscoops, in Europe the budget car turned out to be the most popular car on the new car market since the beginning of 2024. More than 143 thousand copies were sold.
At the same time, the electric car Tesla Model Y, which previously got very close to the leader, fell to the eighth place. The EV market has really slowed down a lot. Although in 2023 it was the Model Y that became the market leader in Europe.

The audiences for these cars are different and don't overlap at all. The matter is both in the consumer qualities of each car, and in the cost. The price of the Dacia Sandero starts at about 10,000 euros.
While the Tesla Model Y costs a minimum of 45,000 euros. The difference in price is 4.5 times! And, nevertheless, in the European market, these two models were previously as close as anyone in the sales rankings.
