Ukraine has begun the process of transferring the seized assets of Mezhyhirya, formerly the residence of President Viktor Yanukovych, to state management. After that, the property will be transferred to the management of the newly created state institution Park-Monument of Landscape Gardening Art of National Importance "Mezhyhirya".

This was reported by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA). They noted that these assets were seized as part of criminal proceedings "to investigate the misappropriation of property located on the territory of the Mezhyhirya tract by the former president."

"The transfer of seized assets located on the territory of the park to state management has begun. Checking the availability and inspection of Mezhyhiria's property is the first stage of the process of transferring the seized assets to the management of the state institution Park – Monument of Landscape Art of National Importance Mezhyhiria," the statement said.

It is emphasized that the seized property of Yanukovych's former residence is evidence in criminal cases against him. And that is why the activists:

  • created a non-profit public organization, PO "NPU Mezhyhirya";
  • "have been managing the seized property for more than 10 years, making a profit from the sale of entrance tickets and commercial activities."

What property in Mezhyhiria will be given to the state

At the same time, it is noted that the state, in particular, will transfer movable property "which is part of the infrastructure of the park complex. It is used for:

  • heat, electricity, water supply;
  • water disposal;
  • protection of the park complex.

"That is, this is the property located on state land. And it ensures the smooth operation of the state institution," the ARMA said.
