André Vakaliuk agreed to play for Ukraine

Benfica U-17 central midfielder André Vakaliuk has agreed to play for the Ukrainian youth national team, sport.ua reports. The footballer was born in Portugal in a family of immigrants from our country and is a pupil of Benfica, playing for the U-17 team.

According to media reports, the player's parents are already applying for Ukrainian citizenship, but this process will take several months. Because of this, Vakaliuk will not be able to help the Yellow and Blues in the first stage of qualification for the U-17 European Championship.

The coaching staff hopes that the player will wear the shirt of the Ukrainian national team in the next qualifying round in 2024.

The national team of Ukraine born in 2007 will hold the first round of qualification for Euro U-17 from October 15 to 21. Teams of Germany, Finland, and Liechtenstein (the host of the competition) are among the rivals. The two best teams will qualify for the elite round.
