One Tree Hill returns: what is known about the continuation of the cult teen series

More than one series from the past decades has recently experienced a more or less successful reboot – just remember "Gossip Girl" or "Sex and the City." The next in line will be the youth drama "Survival School," also known as "One Tree Hill".

The idea to revive the show came from the original cast members Sophia Bush and Hilarie Barton, who will also become executive producers of the project. They announced the start of work in a joint Instagram post in late August. They were also joined by Danneel Ackles.

Currently, the project is at a very early stage of development and does not even have an approximate release date. It is known that the reboot of "Survival School" is to be released on Netflix. The plot of the show is kept secret, but it is already known that it will take place 20 years after the end of the original series. By this time, the main characters and best friends Brooke (Bush) and Peyton (Burton) will have become parents of teenagers themselves and will be going through all the same difficulties, such as first love, self-doubt, and first disappointments, but now from the perspective of adults.

It is not yet known who will become the showrunner and main director of the "Survival School" reboot. But the script, according to available information, was entrusted to Becky Hartman-Edwards.

As for the other cast members, it is currently known for certain that another key star of the original youth series, Chad Michael Murray, will not return to the cast. It is also unlikely that fans will see James Lafferty and Bethany Joy Lenz in the show. Lentz said she is open to offers, but no one has approached her with an invitation yet. And Lafferty said that he is now fully focused on working on the comedy show "Everyone Is Doing Great," which he is creating with Stephen Colletti.

The original series "Survival School" was broadcast in 2003-2012. During its 9 seasons, it was nominated for Teen Choice Awards more than 20 times and became one of the most popular youth series of the noughties.
