Numbers show Volkswagen's low-cost models may receive a second chance
The automotive division of the Spanish company SEAT within the Volkswagen Group is responsible for the production of low-cost models. It was reported that it would be closed, but it seems that the company has a future.
The details are reported by Motor1. Earlier, it was said that SEAT would no longer produce cars. This will be done by the Cupra brand, which until 2018 was a line of sports models of the Spanish company, and now is a separate brand.
This was echoed by low SEAT sales. However, the situation has improved: since the beginning of 2024, the company has sold 220,000 cars, with sales up 12%. Is this enough to influence Volkswagen's decision?
Cupra is focused on hybrids and electric vehicles. Vokswagen drew attention to the positive market reaction to the launch of a separate brand and noted high demand.
Cupra models are still sold in smaller quantities compared to SEAT. However, sales are growing more dynamically. Given that the cars of the two brands are very close in technical terms, the company manages to sell Cupra cars at higher average prices.
