Nissan will abandon its cheapest models by 2030
Nissan will discontinue its gasoline and diesel models in the European market by 2030. Thus, the company will eliminate the cheapest cars from its lineup, which are always more affordable than electric vehicles.
However, the manufacturer does not plan to leave an alternative to electric cars. Further plans will be announced on the company's official website. Traditionally, cars with internal combustion engines are the cheapest models among all those with different types of powerplants.
Of course, Nissan plans to reduce the cost of its electric cars through new designs, efficient mass production, and cheap batteries. They are also preparing an expanded range.
The company wants to introduce 19 all-electric models by 2030 and 8 more hybrids. And by 2027, the European market plans to reach 98% of hybrids and electric cars sold.
The automaker is working to reduce the cost of batteries by 65% by 2028. This is expected to make EVs more affordable.
