Renault is preparing to launch several low-cost electric cars. However, the new models will become even more affordable. This will be achieved due to significant cost savings during production.

The details have become known to Motor1. Renault is working on the next generation of electric models. Under the new architecture, production costs are expected to be reduced by 40%.

The new platform should include an array of technologies. Particular emphasis will be placed on energy efficiency with a consumption of less than 12 kWh per 100 km. This means that the electric car will need a compact battery pack with a capacity of less than 40 kWh to cover a conventionally comfortable 300 km.

In addition, the company will offer more advanced electric motors. Engineers will pay special attention to aerodynamics, which will contribute to energy efficiency.

It is also important that with the new architecture, Renault cars will be able to compete with Chinese electric cars in terms of price. It is known that Chinese manufacturers put the low cost of a car first, turning a blind eye to quality.

New Renault models are expected by 2028. These will be C-class cars the size of VW Golf and, in the case of crossovers, Toyota RAV4.
