New Chevrolet Bolt to rival Nissan Leaf: details

The affordable Chevrolet Bolt electric car is getting ready for a generational change. The model is in development right now, and this process will have to be accelerated.

This is due to the fact that the electric car of the current generation will be removed from production by the end of 2023. At the same time, it was not initially planned to prepare a successor. But, according to information directly from General Motors, a new model will still appear.

The new Chevrolet Bolt will be built within the framework of the Ultium modular electric vehicle architecture. It is thanks to this that the development of the car will be accelerated. For the same reason, it will be possible to reduce the cost of the battery.

Bolt is one of the main rivals for Nissan Leaf. In the new generation, the model will strengthen its position. There is no specific information about the car yet. However, the range should exceed 400 kilometers.

It was decided to return to the development of an electric car after the high demand for the outgoing model. Initially, the new Bolt was planned to be abandoned. However, the successor will still appear.

The format of the car is also kept secret. Now the model is presented in two bodies: a five-door hatchback and a compact crossover.
