The popular board role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons will get a new adaptation - this time in the form of a series for the Netflix streaming service. The new project is not related to the recently released movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves.
According to Variety, the series is called "The Forgotten Realms" and will tell about the adventures of new heroes in the famous fantasy world. The project will be produced by Shawn Levy, who previously worked on such popular series as Stranger Things. The showrunner of the series is Drew Crevello, known for his work on the series It Didn't Work.
The idea to create a series based on Dungeons & Dragons did not come up today. Back in 2021, Hasbro, the owner of the game rights, announced its plans to develop such a project. Initially, the series was planned to be released on the Paramount+ platform, but later the production rights were transferred to Netflix.
The world of Dungeons & Dragons provides endless possibilities for creating exciting stories. The Forgotten Realms series promises to take viewers to a fantasy world full of magic, mystical creatures, and heroic feats.
